Without commenting on what works best, what you’re referring to is likely Lizard Bedding, which I believe to be finely ground walnut shells.
Once upon a time, I went shopping for some. The stuff I found was too course, in my estimation, so I passed on it, and continued to use corn cob treated with polish.

Now,
With dirty rifle, and pistol brass, I decap , and use SS pins in a tumbler.
My rifle brass that never hits the ground gets a wipe down outside, and a gentle brushing inside.

Ditto. I wet tumble everything. Water, car wash detergent, a scoop of Lemishine, and stainless steel pins. Brass comes out looking like new, and you never have to replace your tumbling media. The only drawback is the drying time.
