A friend of mine from the "Good Old Days" and I spoke this morning and he turned me on to this very special person from New Hartford NY named Mike Taurisano - a master holster maker of more than 40 years.

I had been looking for a reasonablly priced, well made rig for my 686 befitting of its stature and well - beauty. I ordered the Semi-High Ride Practical Carry Holster and belt in Mahogany for it.

This man has been building holsters for the east coast shooting community for more than 40 years and is a master of the art of holster making according to my old friend and shooting partner who has owned his leather for 20+ years...

I am counting the days until it arrives - 3 weeks for custom leather... Not too shabby and a reasonable price as well.

From the pictures - the look like artwork

When mine gets here in about 3 weeks - I will let you know - I have been assured by someone that I trust with my life that these are of the FINEST QUALITY and I spoke with Michael this morning when I placed my order - he is a one man show and has been for 40 years.

Master craftsman.

Mike actually called me yesterday afternoon to let me know that he would be starting on my holster and wanted to confirm the configuration and the features. He said that I should have the holster by next friday

I told him that I would be camped out on the front doorstep so as not to miss the mailman. He laughed and says that he hears that a lot.....

Well folks - it came today and here is the deal - it had my name stamped on the inside of the holster - nice touch.

I ws hoping that this rig was all that it was cracked up to be - let me tell you this - my expectatios are pretty high on all things gun related due to being a crumedgeonly old bastar* with this stuff -

THIS HOLSTER EXCEEDED MY HIGHEST HOPES AND IS AN ABSOLUTE WORK OF ART - IT IS SMOOTH - FAST -SECURE - AND MOST IMPORTANTLY COMFORTABLE.

It rides right where a practical carry holster should ride - it is absolutely one of the most comfortable holsters that I have ever worn. A 686 is a rather large carry gun - this holster carries like a dream. Mike is 77 years old - if you want a working piece of art - I would not wait too long. Get your orders in to him and tell him some guy from MN sent you and he will know.....

I will post pics if I can figure out how to do it.
