he is lucky his stray bullets didn't do any damage. he should have let them come in a little closer so he could have properly "discussed things" without flinging lead around the nieghborhood

It seems a little odd though that the homeowner was able to start shooting so quickly at the bad guys. Not odd in a suspicious way, just unusual. He must have had his weapon really close to hand when they pulled up.
