MWCA show

Postby Willma on Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:27 pm

Has anyone been to any of the MWCA shows? Are they worth the effort? Is it cash only?

Thanks.

I have been many times... There is one this upcoming weekend at the Minneapolis Convention Center, which in my opinion is one of the two best (and largest) in the Twin Cities along with the show that is at the Coliseum at the Sate Fair Grounds. Worth going, cash/payment depends on the dealer.

I'm going, it's all of a 13 block walk from home, and I can do it all in the skyway :)

Yawn.

I went, everything was way overpriced. I'm glad I only spent 50 cents on parking.

I was there Saturday morning for a couple of hours. Rifles, particularly the ARs, seemed stratospherically priced, but handgun prices didn't seem that much higher than they were at the pre-Obongo MWCA gunshows. I came across a new CZ 85B for $400, am am kicking myself for not picking it up (despite already having 12 other CZs).

As for ammo prices, well, let's just say the dealers seemed to think the copper in their ammo had mysteriously turned to gold.

D. You need that gun, I know you do. Think of it as a puppy that is in a bad home right now and you could rescue it and give it a new home where it can flourish and reach its full potential. You have a moral choice here, my man, do the right thing :D

Well for that price you can't go wrong... If you change your mind I'm sure you could sell it to someone here and at least get your money back out of it.

I'll thrown in my 2 cents on pricing as well. Lots of stuff seemed really high. The thing that made the most impression though was the price differences betwen tables. A reputable dealer had a GSG-PK for $515, another table had one for $545, and the carry badge seller was selling one for $595. Nonetheless, there seemed to be as many folks waiting for their FFL transfers on new purchases at the badge guy's table as at Hart's. Until buyers become smarter purchasers, we're going to be stuck with the ridiculous pricing some sellers get away with.
