Local (Saint Paul area) FFL's for transfer(s)?

Another one that might be a little closer (they're in New Brighton). IIRC, they charge $20 for a transfer - might be $25.

OK. I used them back in October, and couldn't remember what I paid. Just remember that I didn't have any problems with the transaction.

I have used DKmags several times without any problems and I cant drive to Burnsville for the $5 difference in fees. I was just verifying what they charge.

I used to use Al's, but he'll no longer transfer new guns (he didn't mine doing my AR, but he flat-out refused to do my current purchase) when he's able to order them.

I can certainly understand where's he's coming from, but I'm not going to pay 25% more to buy from him.

I called a few months ago and was told the same thing. Okaaaaaaay, make twenty dollars or zero dollars. Your choice.

In the south metro, I recommend Burnsville Pistol Range. $20, but they won't ship out of state, only receive firearms.

+1 on that. I used to do Al's but he got cranky the last time, until he found out the gun hadn't been made in 15 years. I asked about ordering something else that I wanted, but his quoted "dealer price" was higher than Bill's regular price! I don't think he really wants to sell anything he doesn't have in the store.

I've used Rick Kay as mentioned earlier in the thread. He works out of his home, and is a nice and honest guy. Sold me some 9mm ammo out of his own private stock that day also because I didn't have any at the time. Also charged a very fair price for that. He's about the same distance in the opposite direction from 35 as BPR is in Burnsville.

Has a 10 pound dog that thinks he's a 150 pound dog too, which is priceless.

I don't think he even wants to sell what he has in inventory. I can kind of see jacking up prices on stuff that you just can't get anywhere else (like a Valmet AK), but if you aren't willing to be competitive on Glocks you just shouldn't stock them.

True enough for all those informed. But not everyone shops around. By that fact alone is the reason a few of these businesses are still in business. Gander comes to mind. Won't pick on any of the smaller guys. But we all know who they are anyway.

Other than that, maybe these guys are just in it for a hobby and don't really care to compete down to where the margins are so slim that in their opinion it isn't worth it. I was in the market for a Savage a few weeks ago, and Al's never even answered the phone on 3 attempts on different days, if that tells us anything.
