EBR Bubble bursting?

Postby DeanC on Tue Apr 07, 2009 7:38 am

Got this anecdote from another board:
Went to the Houston gun show yesterday. Saw alot of black guns and black gun parts (uppers, lowers, stripped lowers etc) with price tags with original price scratched through and lower price (about 20%) written in.

For example - Stripped DPMS lower pre-Obama = $100. Same lower post-Obama $210. Yesterday $160.

My dad and 3 of my uncles went to the Tulsa gun show this weekend. Said people (private and dealer) people trying to get rid of AR's (and components) left and right. Prices where substantially lower than the last 5 months.

Let's hope this is a continuing trend, and it spills over into reloading components..........

There's some hope and change I can believe in! :D

Hopefully there will all of a sudden be a glut of ammo available. I need some .45 ACP!

You need that now? That means you need some .45 ACP ASAP? (say that 10 times fast.)

You could always look into reloading :?

I think that the craze is over the market is SATURATED with ARs - how many more can they sell? It was all about the AR at the SHOT Show - all you could see were AR parts and guns and I was thinking to myself - this is going to burst at some point.

The market cannot support a $599 Sportical for $1400 what a friggin joke.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed, since I've avoided buying one thus far because of the price. And I agree with needing a sudden saturation of .45 ACP on the market!

Why do I doubt quality BMG's will suddenly be cheap and available? :( Ammo price drop would be nice for 223 and 308.

The main gun-buying season always runs October through April. It was a record breaker this year, for sure, but demand always falls in the spring.

Or maybe some dealers fear that the stock they have will become banned for sale or even illegal to possess. They do not want to get stuck with a bunch of inventory that they cannot sell and will have to be destroyed, so they are trying to unload it now.

I would think everybody who wanted an AR type rifle because of Obama has one by now.

But honestly I'd be happy if we could just get some bloody primers on the shelves. That's when I'll feel the bubble has officially burst.
