USPSA Class.. May 2 and 3

I am pleased to announce that I am holding a Competition Pistol class on May 2nd and 3rd. This curriculum for the class will be as follows:

Accuracy

Grip/Stance

Shot Calling

USPSA Techniques (this will consist mostly of specialized movement techniques)

Stage Breakdown/Analysis

Practice Tips and Techniques

The format of the class will consist of one day of intensive work on technique. The next day will consist of a multi stage mock match. The stages will be such that the students will go through each just like a match, but then we will revisit each stage and analyze the performance of each student.

This class will be held at Holmen Rod and Gun Club in Holmen Wisconsin. It will start at 9am and go until about 5 pm on both days.

Ronnie Casper will be assisting with the class and range setup.

The cost is $250, with a limit of 12 students.

Estimated Round Count will be 750 for the first day and about 500 for the second day.

I've seen Ben shoot so I really shouldn't be surprised by that performance, but HOLY...EFFIN...CRAP was that good. I'm still trying to make Sharpshooter.

Hey guys. The class ran smoothly and we didn't have any major problems. The only disappointment for me was that we didn't get to cover more material.

The weather was great though!

I got some video in the morning of a few stages. The guys that took the class may find it helpful.

I agree with what Curt wrote. This class is phenomenal for those looking to become better USPSA shooters. Much of it also applies to IDPA. I learned many new ideas. Not just little tweaks but paradigm shifting epiphanies.

The class was fun too. We had a lot of laughs with some good natured ribbing.

On Sunday we shot a match. Then we reviewed how we could have improved our performance. Ben setup seven stages. These were challenging, in-depth stages. This was equivalent to a major match.

Needless to say, I was impressed. Even if you are just beginning competitive shooting, I recommend this class.

Ben does put on a great class and I would like to also thank Ronny and Lori Caspers.

It becomes very apparent that at Ben's level of shooting ability and being competitive there is as much mentally thinking through the stage as physical shooting ability to be competitive.

The class had a good mixture of students with different skill levels. I would not recommend this class for someone just thinking about starting into action pistol shooting. You should have a good drawing from the holster class and shoot a few matches to get a understanding of your skill level, range commands and shooting the different target arrays. Some people come naturally to the sport, others like myself have to work very hard at it. Your presented with a lot of information during the class and Ben does set up the drills to see what your baseline is and then encourages you to push it, but when the timer goes off it seems like I keep reverting to bad habits. Practice will be the key.

We did get to try out our new training last night at the league in Harris, I think it helped me, but I haven't seen the results yet.
