Carrying while biking

Postby Stradawhovious on Thu May 07, 2009 9:46 am

It's biking season again! (Sorry guys, bicicyle, not motorcycle) and in the interest of not getting killed by "Park Pirates" I would like to carry while biking. What would be a convenient way to accomplish this? I have considered placement of any holsters I have, and they won't work with spandex shorts and striped, colorful skin tight jackets with many pockets. (go ahead and try to get that image out of your head. ) I would rather not go the murse route if I don't have to. Have any of you seen holsters for the bike itself? or maybe a holster designed just for this purpose? I'd like to stay away from a shoulder rig if possible, but I'm thinking it might be my only choice.

Bike holster makes it easy to separate you from your firearm in time of need. Just knock you off your bike to start the encounter and you're back to unarmed ASAP.

Belly Band?
Safepacker?
Water bottle holder with another pouch ;-)
private or small grou permit classes available

I was thinking about that, and it does seem to be a bad option.

I haven't touched my bike in years but when I go running I just wear Cabelas hiking shorts and either the Kahr or 442 in a pocket holster, a reload in another pocket, and cell phone in another.
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.

Let me clarify..... I will be bringing a 4" 1911 along. If I had a pocket gun it would be a easier solution, but until I find an inexpensive UL snubby, I'm using what I have.

Ah. I see the problem.
I think Ron hit it on the head, though.

You're right, there isn't.

Looks like I'm stuck in shoulder rig land huh?

Have you looked at any of the fanny pack solutions? I hate them myself but might be an option for this.

I'm hoping to avoid the murse. If the shoulder rig ends up not being acceptable (oh boy, a chance to spend another $100 on a rig I might use  )
I'll have to go to that route.

You could always find a different place to ride your bicycle. :?

Post what you end up finding if you will. I have been looking for a similar solution, not for biking but if it works for that it may work for me.
