Hawley boy brings bullets to school

A kindergartner won't be suspended or expelled for bringing .22- caliber bullets to school in Hawley, Clay County authorities said.

Chief Deputy Jerome Thorsen said the 5-year-old boy found the bullets at home, where he lives with his mother, and brought them to Hawley Elementary School.

The dispatch log said the boy's teacher informed his parents, and the father called the sheriff's office.

Thorsen said a deputy spoke with the boy's mother and was assured that she'd be more careful about keeping the ammunition away from the boy.

Thorsen said children that young typically don't face suspension or expulsion for such behavior because they don't know any better.

Lucky for the family this happened in Hawley. Here in the cities, there would have been numerous cases of wet pants by teachers and administrators, followed with generous doses of intrusion.

Why is this even news, Kids bring things to school. My kids kindergarten teacher used to tell tales about bags of weed, marriage toys, condoms, bank books, all sorts of things brought in as show and tell. The only time she ever called the cops was for a bag of dirty needles the kid brought to share as squirt guns.

Are you serious? If so, let me explain, it's because it involves evil "guns". Oh, did I mention that guns = bad if you are the media? Nah, you weren't serious, you already knew that.
