shipping a rifle

im trying to send a rifle off to be customized and it feels like im getting the runaround by my local shipping store. i dont need an ffl holder as im sending it to manufacturer. could someone please give me advice on the best way to do this.

the backround on this is that im sending my saiga 12 to Tromix to be customized after a 8 month wait. thanks in advance

You can take it to the main UPS or Fed-X offices. Not to the local store.

I have shipped a firearm back to the manufacturer via UPS but I went to the main station in Eagan to ship it not to the local UPS retail store. The lady that helped me had no problem with the fact it was a firearm. She even helped me to repack it to make sure it was secure.

I have just recently shipped to an FFL using the USPS. The FFL I shipped it to preferred I use USPS priority mail. I got insurance, tracking number and delivery confirmation. Again no problem and a reasonable charge. They did not ask or seem to care what I was shipping.

thanks for the help! i work next to the ups terminal in eagan so ill just go to work early monday and take care of it. thanks for the help. one question though, why wont local shipping shops do it? is there a law or something?

They are uneducated and paranoid and have risen to the highest level of incompetence their firms will allow. They only piss off an acceptable number of customers.

I was just on my way here to say what Dean said, but he not only beat me to it but said it better than I would have.

I should say that the last time I shipped a rifle back to its manufacturer, I went to the UPS terminal in Minneapolis, and I was expecting a hassle (based on the last time I shipped a handgun). The guy behind the counter said I needed to unpack the whole thing so that he could write down the serial number. Now, I had packed this thing like no one's business, and I wasn't too happy, but he was very nice about it, apologized profusely, and helped me re-do the whole thing. By the end I was feeling like a jerk even for looking at him sideways to start with. I realized that me getting pissy with someone probably would make the situation worse, not better.

Now, the time I shipped that handgun was interesting. They would only ship next day air, not 2-day or 3-day or ground. I asked why and was told that there was less chance for the gun to go missing that way. The fact that I had to pay extra to keep their employees from stealing my package really irked me...

When i shipped my Shotgun off to Wilson Combat for some work, i had my friend at a U.P.S store pack it and took it to the fed ex on Buerkle road. There was not a problem as i had it briken into two pieces so it would not function. It cost me $11 to send it to Wilson combat / Scattergun technologies as i could not be bothered to take it to the depot in Nor east so i went Fed Ex as it was cheaper.
