So, I recently came into a little surplus 50BMG that I need to burn through to use the brass for "real" ammo.

Would there be the time and facilities to let people pop off a round or so with the cannon at this range, or do they frown on 50BMG there? It would be ball ammo, not API or anthing like that.

It isn't very accurate, but it is decent and goes bang every time. Actually, it goes BANG.....

That was what I was looking for. I'd rather not drag around 40+ pounds of metal if a 9oz squeeze is going to bring 2 tons of crap down on someone's head.

Okay, I was looking for more info on the Steel Shoots, like time and what I should bring and came up with the following:

Search found 2135 matches: steel shoot

That's a LOT of matches to look through. So for brevity and to save the new guy a few hours of searching; What time does it start, what time should I arrive, do I need to bring food with me? I aready gathered from this thread that I need 200 - 300 rounds and my totally newbe status.

just like last month, my fiancee will be there running a grill for anyone that would like to bring food. We usually end up with a couple extra hamburgers and hot dogs but she will be happy to grill whatever is brought, although she stopped strad from grilling his hand.

About 2 hours drive from the downtown Mpls area?

Again, for basic equipment for a newbie: 9mm Glock, 6-8 mags, 2-300 rounds, a decent holster (belt or paddle), eyes and ears, plus food, drink and snivel gear? Anything else? Do you draw to shoot, or shoot from low ready?

thanks

You'll draw. If you haven't done any action shooting before, Selurcspi or China (or maybe Pinnacle I guess) will give you a mini-class. If the dog eats your holster and nobody has a loaner that works, you can shoot from low ready.

And yeah, roughly 1.5 - 2 hours depending on how many bathroom breaks or mechanical breakdowns you have, and if you get lost.

Snivel gear???

I bring four mags but can see the reasoning behind bringing more. I know of one shooter last year that used 198 rounds and that was with a smaller man v man bracket. And it really helps to work on your draw and reloads safely before heading out.
