Well Sam, seing as your avatar is a gorilla to begin with, you might as well go all the way to the very outer fringe of the dark side and become the 800 pound gorilla in the room. It's nice being the 800 pound gorilla.... you can sit anywhere you want.... The EFFEN Gopher - Stand-Up Frank's - Valleyfair on the 4th of July....

And as shooting legend Elmer Keith once said, the only reason I carry a 45 is because they don't make a 50!!

The vast majority of 1911 faliures I have seen lately have been due to a faulty trigger actuator.

Go ahead SAM, join us. Join us. Join us. Join us. We have cookies

When did I say that the issue was organic, I said the problem was not (for once) the organic trigger actuator, nor was it the gun, I did mik the rounds i loaded for the pin shoot though and they were a teeeeeny bit on the long side

You shoulda been there! Seems like that 50GI would be just about the ultimate on pins.

Take baby steps. A 30 rd mag, going down to an 8 round mag is just too extreme. I think you'd like my 13 round mags better. :ugeek:

I have to agree with EJSG19... I took a gentleman's sixth with a .40 Sig that I haven't shot in two years. I think your issue is caliber more than weapon. In lieu of getting into another 1911 v.s. Glock/Whatever debate, I think we should have a rematch, where EJSG19 and myself will guarantee a second/third finish, proving that the 1911 is not the only answer.

Plus, we did not have the benefit of being the hosts.... (conspiracy)... :D

I really like the New Para GI Expert 1911. It's got everything you need and nothing you don't. I don't know why anyone would buy one of those Springfield Mil-specs, RIA's or even the Taurus when you can pick on of these up for around $500 or less.

Those are sweet.

Cabelas had a used Custom Eclipse II a few weeks ago that I took a hard look at - really nice looking pistol.

Yeah, but was that pin match out by the SD border like all the steel shoots are?? If it was TC Metro, let me know the next time there is one. (And yes, hitting a steel gong plate with a 50 GI makes a COMPLETELY different noise than whacking it with a 45 or a fo-tay Short & Weak...)

Have had Colts, Springfields and S&Ws. HAD. As in past tense. Not that there was anything wrong with them. Or so I thought.

Then I discovered Para. Specifically, the P-12. And now I have more than a couple.

And like the man said: "Don't leave home without it!"

YMMV.
Fortunately, I wasn't cursed with the need to be liked.

Yup, its the caliber not the piece of metal firing it. That was what I was driving at. Those that want to argue which platform is better, can handle all the balls they want

Ahhhhh I see. Taking the "I can't beat 'em, so I I might as well insult 'em" approach.

Luckily I lived to regret buying a 1911. That lesson cost me a couple hundred dollars, but I wont forget it. Sam if you want to buy something to tinker with and spend more money than you need to buy a 1911. If you just want something that is boring and shoots anything you put in it get the Glock.
