other pistols that fit small hands well, glock 19 and 26, browning hi powers, XD9 pistols...
Gunstop had (as of last week), a beretta 92 compact type 'm'-single stack 9mm, utterly reliable, very nice to shoot.
I am not at all familiar with S&W autoloaders, this might be interesting. I also haven't thought of the XD, thinking it was kinda large, will have to try it.

I love how Hi-power shoots, but it hammer-bites me. It might be different for her, so I would have to try that as well, but for now my HP is out of commission. I need to get an oversize sear for it to fix it.
Everyone who offered to lend a pistol - I have one borrowed pistol now, and I would like to keep the borrowing to one at a time to avoid confusion. I will probably take you up on the offer, though. Thank you.
As an interesting aside, mom said she stopped by a gun shop and handled a Glock that she thought felt very nice in her hand. Unfortunately, she can't remember the model and all Glocks look pretty much the same...
