Rear Bench Bag - taller versions?

Postby EJSG19 on Mon Jul 06, 2009 9:39 am

Was doing a little looking around for a rear bag to use on the bench rest. Most of them seem to be around 3''-4'' tall. Trouble is I have a 9-13'' bipod because I'm a little taller than most and don't like to lean over so far, so I would like a rear bag that was a little taller too, with the rabbit ears for finer adjustment as well.

Anyone have any to recommend? I could just get a regular rear bag, and screw a couple 2x6's together to set the bag on, but that is one more thing to carry to the range, and that is to be avoided. As it is, a 3-4'' bag has to run right to the rear of the stock, and I run out of elevation at the rear.

PROTEKTOR, Coldwell and Dog Gone are some that I've looked at so far, but don't see a lot like what I am looking for.

ETA: Leather construction would be preferred. I've seen a few cloth bags that are ripped up and leaking. That seems like an annoyance I could live without.

My brother just puts a few sandbags under the rear bag.

yup. Make your own.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

You make one from an old powderbag filled with rice, you will have a very cheap bag that's very custom to your needs. Just don't get it wet!
