Judge Lundell noted that the plaintiffs have objected to the new plan because they "believe that the new plan cannot prevent the trespass of projectiles from the Rod and Gun Club."

As if anything would have made them happy...

I'm glad they actually tried.

Making them "happy" wasn't the goal. Shutting the range down was the goal.

It was a small community range that had first opened in 1950. It lapsed and was rebuilt in the '80s. In operation for more than 50 years and just NOW they are catching flack from "neighbors"?

Smells on ice...

Unfortunately, this will become a more and more common occurrence. Most clubs which were established in the 50's and 60's were poorly designed with little regard to what might happen to a bullet leaving the property. It really didn't matter back then because most clubs were constructed out in the middle of nowhere.

Today urbanization has caught up to them and those clubs who didn't have the forethought and/or money to buy up the land behind their impact areas are in trouble.
I will never apologize for being an American.

If this indeed means the end for this club it would be nice if the members could find it in their hearts to donate the property for use as a tribal casino....or rehab center.

You know, a little going away present for the neighbors. The kind that keeps on giving.

Actually, I was serious about turning the property over to a tribe. IANAL, but I have heard of various parcels of land being acquired and then consolidated into reservation land.

Once that occurs,it's my understanding that they can put up pretty much anything they damn well please, and the locals be damned.(they're a sovereign nation, remember) Even if they did nothing the possibilities would be enough to to make adjacent property values go south in a hurry.

If this was my club and we were out of legal remedies I'd be seriously considering 'scorched earth'. Methaphorically speaking, of course.
