HK also made the P9S, which has a polymer frame (not completely, but a significant amount), and those were sold by the hundreds of thousands before the first Glock was made, just not in America. But yeah, Glock certainly set the standard for this market!

no, i have no evidence... just some discussions i've had with other gun enthusiasts... and that's why i put the disclaimer that it was my opinion :)

glad they did well in tests.

I'll admit, i'm not really good with the technical research behind the firearms i want/own... i lean on my dad and my boytoy for that. i tend to go to Bill's show and shoot a few and like/choose them for how they feel and how they shoot and how they fit me. possibly odd way of thinking, but it works for me. it would be nice if they did the same with more rifles and other long guns as i'm in the market for a new deer rifle and would prefer to shoot one before i buy it...

I want to know why people think that tight tolerance weapons are the way to go for a carry weapon. I absolutely DEFY you to beat a Glock in reliability and service life.

Tight tolerances my arse - why is that important? The tighter the tolerances the More likely the gun will let you down when you need it most. Glocks are tight enough to work ALL OF THE TIME PERIOD END OF STORY....

XD's are OK if you can get used to the trigger - I cannot do it - the trigger is a mystery to me - the reset does not lend itself to the type of shooting that I do.... I have not and I mean NOT found the XD to my liking and I have seen some come from the Manufacturer with OBVIOUS problems.

People are SO hung up on tolerances they make their guns SOOOO tight they dont work anymore..... Remember that.

I shot the glock platform in competition for a couple years. I just could never get the trigger on the glock, so I personally wouldn't say the glock trigger is very special, but maybe that is just me. I would say two things though--1) the glocks always fired without fail. I can't imagine that you could want a carry gun that didn't do that, tight tolerances or not. 2) the glock 19 was the best carry gun in terms of both size and reliability that I ever owned. I made a mistake and sold it when I moved over to the M&P for competition. Wish I could have that move back!

I've had both the regular XD9 service and the XDM(still have this one), I like the XDM much better, larger capacity, VERY accurate, I like the crip better, moth the backstraps and the serrations, I get a much firmer grip feel with the M not a huge deal but I think it looks much better, the XD's look dated to me, all in all I've fed my XDM some real ******* ammo and it had never jammed, its a solid firearm and if you like the feel I'd so go for it, it wont disappoint. I also got the 2 free mags from SA, not sure if they are still doing it but it was nice to be able to pack almost 80 rounds on your body without having to buy anything.

But for the record I say screw plastic, get yourself a 1911 and dont look back

I also have both the XD and XDm. The XDm is a nice gun...as is the XD...both have been 100% reliable, accurate for my needs etc.

Of the two, the XDm is marginally more accurate. My biggest gripe on the XDm is that the advertising suggested that this was a huge improvement over the regular XD trigger. I forget what national gun guru touted the same...on the lines of the best trigger out there! Oops. BS. It is a better trigger, but a huge disappointment..."better" is a far cry from "great", and even a short distance from "good".

That being said, I would recommend the XDm if there is no financial reason to not get it....it is nicer. And, the XDm .40 may be one of the softest shooting .40's you will find.

I have 3 Glocks... but was looking to purchase a Springfield XDm9... when I was at Bill's I was telling one of the sales guys that I really need to shoot one first... he said they have one at the range... I should have checked... I came back with my shooting equipment and said I wanted to rent the XDm9... they had the XDm40... after some thought I rented the XDm40... I was so happy I purchased the XDm9 later that week.

I'm very, very happy with the purchase... I don't think you will be unhappy with the purchase of the XDm 40 or 9mm.

I squeezed of a few rounds with an XDm 9mm at Ahlman's today. I'm an XD fan, but honestly I don't feel the stock trigger is much better than either my XD9 or XD45.

Granted, I only put 10 rounds down range, but after getting used to the trigger reset on my Glocks, this is nothing to write home about. Nice gun, fits nice, just didn't "do" it for me. Again, I'm not bashing it whatsoever, but if I'm dropping that kinda money, it's going to be something else.

Nighthawk gives you both tight fit and dead nuts reliability. Their pistols are both extremely functional, all business weapons, as well as a thing of hand made beauty. I know Nighthawk pistols are not cheap, but they have made a believer out of me.

I really like my XDM over my G19 and and XD 45. The XDM grip is similar to my 1911's and I love 1911's. Like the video points out it is all personal preference.

Good Luck!
