MN: SPC active shooter.............?

FYI. The St. Paul police have shut down the St. Paul College due to an active shooter (person with a gun) on site.

Seems like it may have been a person with a gun and not an active shooter....

St. Paul college under lockdown after reports of man with gun

The main building at St. Paul Technical College is under lockdown because of the possibility that a gunman is on campus, police said.

By PAUL WALSH

The main building at St. Paul Technical College is under lockdown concerning the possibility that a man is on campus with a gun, police said.

No one can leave and no one can enter the building while law enforcement conducts a security sweep, said police spokesman Sgt. Paul Schnell.

Authorities have yet to find anything suspicious, Schnell said.

Shortly after 11 this morning, a woman reported to school officials that she saw a man with what “she believed to be a gun.” School officials then relayed the information to police.

The school is on Marshall Avenue in the heart of the city’s Cathedral Hill section. It is the oldest of the metro area’s public two-year colleges.

St. Paul College does not have posted the commonly seen signs that declare guns "banned on these premises." However, Stumne said, "It's against the law to bring weapons onto a state campus like this."

I phoned the Strib reporter, and tried to set him straight on the law. Might be interesting to see if he continues to report the college spokesman's word as straight news.

Thanks for taking the bull by the horns on this one. Hopefully he has learned his lesson.
