I don't know how many times I have gone in there and seen a LEO SIG with maybe a third of the finish worn clean off of it, and a price that is for a 95% - 98% firearm. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have ever seen a USED price for any firearm they have ever had that was below 95% of LIST for the same firearm NEW. I mean, WTF???, you DELIBERATELY choose to treat ALL your used gun customers like idiots?? Christ, why couldn't Gander Molehill have gone belly up instead of the Sportsman's Warehouse??
I completely agree with Sam's description. Once in a long while, I'll see something in the used case at GM that is marked competitively, but most of the time it's just stupid. For example, I was there last week to check out whether the used Rohrbaugh was still in the case a week after someone on this forum posted about it. It was still there. Marked $959. Throw tax on that and that's not a good deal for a used (with slightly dinged finish) Rohrbaugh. Some NIB (or LNIB with 25 or rounds through them)pop up from time to time on the rohrbaugh forum for $950 to 1050. When I asked whether they would consider an offer, I was told not even to make one as they don't take offers. When the sales guy asked why I thought it was high, I explained what NIB cost (even though shipping and an FFL transfer would be needed). I then pointed out to him that they had a very used G27 in the same case marked at 559.00. Apparently the fact that it was sporting a uncle mike's rubber slip on grip cover warranted the $150 to $200 that that glock was overpriced. The sales guy was nice, but it was clearly apparent that he didn't care whether I bought a gun or not.
I think they make all their money on new buyers -- folks who don't know any better and trust that GM won't mislead them. When I stopped at the Blaine store on Wednesday of this week to pick up some ice fishing line, I checked the used cabinet as I always do even though I know better. There was a dad and what looked to be his 15 yr. old daughter at the counter, looking at all the new handguns. The guy was upset there weren't more sales people at the counter. GM has a catalog/book for the public to look through, and when he didn't see the CZ 75B he wanted in the case, he was thumbing through the catalog. He apparently found it in there, because I overheard him tell the girl that the gun was listed at msrp of over $600 in there, so GM must carry them. Instead of walking out of the store, he waited for the sales guy and then asked if they had any 75B models in stock. Who in the hell would ever pay close to 700 with tax for a 75B -- yet the guy was there trying to find one. The sales guy said they had none in stock at thais time. Thank god for that as the darn fool may have bought it.
Bottom line for the OP is that he should offer the gun he wants to sell here first. Can always go the Cabelas route thereafter if it doesn't sell here.
