Only if you don't mind donating that pickup and gun, and maybe some of your free time to the local authorities![]()
EJSG19 wrote:I've read about people hog hunting several ways. Stand hunting, stalking/driving on foot, with dogs, on horseback, etc.
Feral hogs can be fairly difficult prey to hunt, and they can cover ground awfully quick. Something I'd really like to do sooner than later.

I was obviously joking, but this is actually legal in the case of varmints (which feral pigs are classified as) on your own property in some states!

Cover ground quick or hunt hogs?![]()
Yea, i'm gonna keep looking for info on this. I think it would be a great time if one could set it up.

I have dreams about burying one of these hogs in the ground covered in coals Luau style! (Important to field dress first
)
I've done it with regular pig and the results are EPIC.

I expect that I have been spoiled when it comes to the best of the best pork available. Diet, lifestyle, stress factors, how they are killed, etc. all can affect meat quality. Some days I think I'd enjoy my food more if I hadn't taken as many animal science classes.
But, if they are even half as good, it'd be worth it.

My guess, all the meat would go into sausage. Highly seasoned sausage. But then, it's more about the hunt than the meat. And, I got over the meat science classes a long time ago.

Yep. One way or another it would be good eating. If I wanted purely just the meat, I'd call up a friend, go visit and buy/shoot a domestic market hog no doubt.
EJSG19 wrote:These look like some fun hunts though, even with a slight (sometimes not so slight) risk of the hog coming after you and making you wish you were somewhere else. Wouldn't mind hunting with a buddy or two in some of those cases.
