Can't recall. Sometimes at work I have issues but that could be network related. I'm only doing research at work. Um ya research.

Today its a different message.

SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) [2002]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists

And that Alt+F4 trick works great!

I'm still working on this. The current hosting is perfect except they don't allow enough database connections and no matter what I do we always hit the limit. I'm testing out some VPS hosting which is a little more expensive but I'm really sick of all the stupid crap that comes with shared hosting.

I just noticed but I'm using the same provider but I'm on a different box... :) Supposedly you can upgrade an account if you need more CPU power. What I don't get is why it would say 1023 user limit on max_user_connections when the admin said it was 30... http://www.bluehostforum.com/showthread ... onnections

Maybe he's mistaking max_user_connections for max concurrent database connections. Does the site get hit by a google bot or something around 2:30pm? That might kill it.

It's cpu throttled about 1/2 the day but that's not the problem. How long have you had an account there? They told me the max_user_connections was 8 :? They also wouldn't let me pay to upgrade it. I'm setting up a VPS right now and will move it eventually, I'm sick of stupid arbitrary restrictions with different shared hostings.

Going on around a year I think... I got in on one of the 3 year contracts for ~$174? total. I had a friend that used it, and the LAMP stack works pretty well for running a Joomla based websites. I've thought about going the VPS route, but it cost quite a bit more.

I would probably call them up again and see if they can help you, or post in the support form. They've been pretty good when I talked to them on the phone, but I didn't have much to really talk to them about. Apparently the box I was on burned out and it took them a day to restore it on a new system from backups. :(

I have a new VPS set up with linode and it's awesome! I'm moving all my other sites there to make sure it all works right and then I'll move the forum eventually. Should solve all these performance issues and I won't have to move it again... if it outgrows you can just have your VPS resized :)

I should have done this right from the start instead of trying to get away with cheap shared hosting
