Some of the top guys in Production use a CZ SP-01 ... I'd guess the money's about the same ... might wanna at least try one, at the show ... it's free.

Otherwise, I've never owned an XD, but I've shot a few ... I thought the pre-M's were good ... when they introduced the XDM's, sayin' the triggers were somethin' special, I couldn't believe it ... they were worse than before. Everyone I know who shoots an XDM either had the trigger replaced, or wants to.
I had an M&P ... very nice gun ... but it wouldn't shoot to the sights ... prefer my sights centered ... call it a 1911 thing ... I got rid of it ... ain't got 'round to tryin' 'nother one.
I've had a dozen+ Glocks ... they all shot to the sights ... with the 3.5 lbs connector, the triggers weren't unbearable. Over the years, my grip's changed, and now I need a floor-protector on the back, to keep my hand from gittin' ripped up ... can't git that neat beavertail thing, 'cause it's a large-frame ... small-frames hit my middle-finger knuckle jest right ... can't grip 'em at all.
If ya can get past the looks, the new Walther PPQ might be werth a look.
HK P30 looks/sounds good. I had a USP years ago ... nice gun ... expensive mags.
Sig P226, 'course ... but it's hard to justify the cost, compared to a CZ/EAA (
ditto HK, I reckon)
Really too bad, if ya've never been to a match 'fore ... seein' some of these guys handle some of these guns, tends to make ya want whatever it is, they're shootin'.
