End of day Monday as I understand it. The revisor's site lists it as delivered Thursday.
" Any bill not returned by the governor within three days (Sundays excepted) after it is presented to him becomes a law as if he had signed it...."
private or small grou permit classes available

Would a governor ever not sign or veto a bill? It would become law and he could claim that he never signed it.

Interesting idea however the (D) next to his name seems to suggest we won't be that lucky. This is going one of the two most obvious ways IMHO.

He's waiting the full 3 days to give his writers time to come up with some good verbiage to try and make his reason for not signing it somewhat appealing to those who wanted this to become law.

Even the author of the bill, after meeting with Dayton, thinks he'll veto it.

Then I suggest we all concentrate our calling, writing, emailing and smoke signaling efforts on our legislators. Get it back through the houses!

Dayton has already made up his mind and no matter how logical our standpoint its all **** he's heard before and we won't change his mind now. This weekend concentrate instead on your "representatives" and let them know you expect this bill to be passed one way or another. Let them return to "work" Monday with full inboxes and voicemails saying "PASS THIS BILL!"

So, if he does not sign? The vote in the Senate was 40 - 23. That means 4 Senators didn't vote. With 67 members in the Senate, 45 votes are required to override. We need 5 more votes. Maybe the 4 who didn't vote were excused due to political reasons? Senator Stumpf voted in favor when it was heard in committee but did not vote on the floor. Swing 1 vote plus getting the 4 who didn't vote would do it. In the house, the vote was 85 - 47. That means 2 did not vote. We need 90 of the 134 members to override.
our quarrel is not about the value of freedom per se, but stems from our opinion of our fellow men … a man’s admiration of absolute government is proportionate to the contempt he feels for those around him --Alexis de Tocqueville--

Gov Goofy will not sign it.. If it comes to a veto override vote, the Democrats that voted for the Bill will NOT vote to overturn Goofy's Veto. They will change their vote to NO and the Bill will be dead.

Gun Owners of America
Pro-gun Bill Goes to Mark Dayton’s Desk

Both the state House and the state Senate have now passed the most important pro-gun bill of the year.

It now goes to the desk of Governor Mark Dayton for signature.

As you can imagine, this represents a major -– but not insurmountable challenge. The bill is H.F. 1467, and it enhances your right to use a firearm to protect yourself.

Here’s what the bill does:

* As many states have already done, it removes the requirement that you retreat from a place you have a right to be before using deadly force for self-defense.

* It creates a presumption that you may use deadly force to thwart an apparent home invasion, carjacking, or kidnapping attempt.

* It expands the “castle doctrine,” allowing you to resist or prevent what you reasonably believe to be the imminent commission of a forcible felony.

H.F. 1467 expands reciprocity to allow people to carry in Minnesota if they possess a carry permit from any other state.

In addition, it follows the lead of the federal government in prohibiting the use of an “emergency” to justify the unconstitutional seizure of firearms.

Finally, H.F. 1467 strengthens your right to obtain a concealed carry permit by, among other things, requiring anti-gun law enforcement personnel to pay your legal fees if they lose in court.

Yeah. We know, we know. Mark Dayton isn’t exactly a pro-gun champion.

But, if we place withering pressure on him -– and we believe we have the capacity to do that -– it’s just possible that he will see his political future flash before his eyes.

And, if there was ever a bill worth “moving heaven and earth” for in Minnesota, this is it.

ACTION: Please contact Governor Mark Dayton and urge him to sign H.F. 1467. You may click here to contact the Governor via his website. Sample text is included below.
http://mn.gov/governor/contact-us/form/

Dear Gov. Dayton:

I have a right to defend my home and my family against violent criminals.

And I have a right to assume that my family’s safety will not be offered up on the altar of political expediency.

I insist that you sign H.F. 1467.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
We reap what we sow. In our case, we have sown our government.

Which one do you think carries more weight with Gov Goofy, yours or mine?

Dear Gov Dayton:

The citizens of MN need your help and protection. Signing this bill will cause untold violence and blood shed in the streets. We in the Law Enforcement Community demand that you do NOT sign this bill. Our lives and the lives of every MN citizen are at stake.

Sincerely,

Tell Governor Dayton to sign the Stand Your Ground bill

Postby 17Rebel76 on Sat Mar 03, 2012 3:29 pm

Just sent. Tried to keep my temper in check. This is my last email to him, I'm moving on to my legislators in anticipation of his "I am Democrat hear me roar" veto move.

"Governor Dayton,

There has been an incalculable amount of public hours spent on finding a way for the public at large to be coerced into funding a private sport enterprise's business expenses. The same amount of effort should be put forward to make sure that should I be victimized by violent criminals I can defend myself with the knowledge that I won't be presumed guilty until proven innocent.

We have passed background checks. Many of us follow safety practices that far exceed the law. I have a personal rule of not consuming any alcohol while carrying even though the law allows me to have a BAC of .08.

The bloodbath fear mongering tactics are all recycled from when Minnesota adopted a shall issue carry law. We are good, honest, trustworthy people. Other states already have these laws. There are no scenes reminiscent of the OK Corral. It simply doesn't happen and using this as an excuse to pass an anti gun agenda will be seen for the transparent political game that it is.

Criminals are the ones law enforcement has something to worry about and you don't have to be the attorney general to know that they neither have permits nor are they concerned with the law.

Not signing this will only harm the law abiding citizens of this state and will do nothing to address the imaginary boogeyman arguments in opposition.

Please support the lawful, peaceful, honorable, and voting state approved permit holders of this state."

Dear Mr 17Rebel76,

Thank you for you letter and concerns regarding this bill. Although I agree with you on principal I cannot agree with you on substance. According to the Law Enforcement Community that tells me what to say and how to think, i think this bill is a bad idea. At least that is what I'm told to think, I think, or maybe I know, no wait I don't think or know I am told. Ya that's it, I am told not to sign this here bill thingy cuz it's bad, I think, maybe, wait let me go ask someone what your email is about.

Thanks
Gov Goofy

624.714 says BAC max. for carry is 0.04.
