In addition to this, last year, we scheduled an additional Thursday prior to the start of the summer league, at which, we had a longer orientation, and set up two courses for "practice". The response was overwhelmingly positive. So, we intend to do the same again, this May.
As last year, we strongly encourage experienced shooters to show up as well! We still need RO's for the "practice". As well, USPSA rules allow us to use non-NROI-certified RO's for our nightly matches ... which is a very good thing, otherwise we'd have no one to RO, and no matches. Ideally, those interested in RO'ing have shot USPSA for at least a year or two. There's no commitment to showing up to this. Every year, we lose RO's. Every year, we need new RO's to step up. If you've been shooting for 2yr+, and you've never RO'd, you're not keeping up your end of the deal. Moreover, there's not a single good reason to not RO. It's either that, or paste targets, reset steel, reset activators, score, or set on yer ***. On a good squad, ya've got at least 3 - 4 RO's, so each one only runs a few shooters. If no new RO's step up, we get down to 1 ... sometimes, zero.
If you're the least bit interested, show up for our orientation nite, and I'll do an RO class. Better that nite, than during a match.

The orientation nite will be Thursday, May 3rd ... no later than 5:00! Normally, match fees are $15 ... however, for the orientation nite, EVERYONE is expected to help set-up and tear-down ... no shooting-thru ... no squad-hopping ... no leaving early ... moreover, without a classifier, and as we won't otherwise send the match to HQ, we have no USPSA fees for this one ... so we'll ask for $5/ea from EVERYONE, for the orientation. RO's, that means you can shoot, too!
The first match of '12 will be the following Thursday, May 10th. However, this match will also NOT be sent in to USPSA ... and EVERYONE again will be expected to help set-up and tear-down. At which, this match will also only be $5. We will also NOT be scoring this match. Targets will be 15yd - 100yd.

As the May 10th match will employ all the USPSA safety rules, and with not enough daylight to do a pre-match orientation, attendance in the May 3rd orientation is mandatory, for the May 10th match (current USPSA members with a "C" or better classification, not withstanding).
May 17th will kick-off the regular matches, for league score. For those unfamiliar, you needn't show up for EVERY week (unlike many other less formal leagues). Fees are $15/match (with $5 discounts to help set-up/tear-down). For more info, see http://ipsc.krok.us/ ... I'll update the calendar, later.

Tim has indicated he's interested in not running matches next year.

When Tim took over OGC, IIRC, he was only in his 2nd year of USPSA. I was about the same, when I took over my first club (Armored Fire). At which, I'll suggest absolutely anyone with a year 'er two of USPSA under their belt, a current member of OGC, and preferably someone who can get out to OGC early on Thursday evenings, contact me. Ideally, someone who's interested will work closely with Tim and myself this whole summer, so they're best prepared for next year. Ultimately, we simply need someone to draw up courses every week, and make sure the shed's stocked ... there's otherwise lots of folks very willing to help with many other tasks. This also counts for your work hours at OGC. Tim and I have dozens of courses already drawn up ... many have been recycled for years ... if you really wanted, you'd never hafta draw another course.
