If you don't handload, you're screwed because you'll have to buy pricey but watered down crap that's barely more powerful than 40 Short & Weak, or go Super pricey for the good stuff from CorBon or Doubletap. If you do handload, then you're in pretty good shape, and those 600 cases will last a while. And I'm not so sure I'd want to shoot Norma factory spec full power 10mm in a Glock because part of the case isn't supported. Dunno why you don't want an EAA, as they are the cheapest entry point in an all steel gun, and apart from that anything you buy will be over a Grand.
Let's break out the old calculator here:
Cost of 600 rounds of 10mm ammo for free: $0.00 per round
Cost of 50 rounds of American Eagle 10mm ammo $29.99 - $0.60 per round
Cost of 600 rounds of free 10mm ammo factoring in cost of $1,000 gun to shoot it: $1.66 per round
So that "free" ammo is costing you a $1.06 a round EXTRA over list to get a gun to shoot it. And that's for the watered down crap, too...
