Could there have been inspiration from Canada's laws for capacities of pistol magazines with U.S. politicians?
I thought that after Marc Lepine's mass murders at the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989 (with a Ruger Mini 14 that had a 20 or 30 round magazine), that the capacity for pistols was limited to 10 rounds and 5 rounds for rifles under the 1995 Firearms Act (although I don't know if there is a distinction/exemption between integral magazines and detachable ones in the law). And I don't know if magazines of more than 5 or 10 rounds capacity that were owned previously to the laws had to be forfeited by the owners.
