I gotta stop watching MSNBC....

Postby Snakeman721 on Thu Feb 14, 2013 1:36 am

Before I throw a brick through my TV. What's the saying...keep your friends close and your enemies closer? I was watching Lawrence O'Donnell tonight on his show "Last Word" and he was calling the NRA and it's MEMBERS (you and me) "crazy people" because the NRA has an "enemies list". Yeah, WE know that this list is nothing more than a list of organizations that do NOT support our 2nd amendment rights. Well, Mr O'Donnell demonized it as much as possible and matter of factly stated the NRA and it's MEMBERS were racist and anti Semites because some of the organizations on the enemies list supported black or Jewish causes! Really? I mean REALLY? How low are these Libtards willing to go? Yeah, I know, I'm not supposed to stoop to their level by name calling, but I'm steamed! There are people out there that actually listen to this jerk-face and BELIEVE him. It is definitely not making our job any easier when some (most) of the media gives airtime to these rancid sacks of meat spouting lies and passing them off as truths. What's that other saying....If you tell a lie often enough to enough people, it becomes the truth?

This weather needs to warm up a bit more and the ammo shortage needs to abate so I can take some people who are fence sitters or semi-anti 2nd amendment noobs to the range to let them experience shooting a gun firsthand and show that law abiding gun owners are NOT the problem. Ok, rant done....for now.

I think you should go with your original plan, and throw the brick through your TV. Like it or not, you're being indoctrinated by that thing. It's a well known fact that the flickering of the TV puts your brain into a semi-hypnotic state. All sorts of ideas can be slipped right past your conscious mind, and implanted right onto your subconscious mind...and believe me, they are. Besides, just look at all the energy you have wasted on that stuff.

Just think about what would happen if a significant number of us simply tuned out, and stopped participating in this silly left vs. right game that the TV propagates. People would actually go to the polls and vote based on the true issues of the day. It would take about two seconds for the average person to figure out that Fox News, MSNBC, and the like are nothing but crap. Piers Morgan, Rachel Maddow, Ann Coulter, et. al. would just dry up and blow away like leaves in the fall wind, because in the grand scheme of things, people like that mean absolutely nothing to you or me during the course of our daily lives.

You lend legitimacy to them by tuning in, whether you agree with the message or not. Just think about it. All of this crazy anti-gun nonsense we all hate, all of the people who go to the polls and vote emotionally, all of this crap about how our way of life is evil...where do you suppose people learn to think that way? The TV, that's how. It's scary how much power that thing has over our society.

I quit watching TV years ago, and it's one of the single best things I've ever done for myself, right up there with quitting smoking. Give it a try sometime.

All bricks wil go up in price 10,000% and be considered a weapon leading to a committee hearing on how to regulate or ban them from use.

I don't think my plasma display actually flickers.... <shrug>

Fox, MSNBC, ABC, etc.. are all raking in viewers by entertaining and, for many people, reaffirming "their" viewpoints via the entertainment news format. Being surprised or offended when you see/hear inflammatory stories on cable network news is like walking into a gentleman's club and being shocked when a pair of ta-ta's get jiggled in your face... It's the nature of the business.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not....whatever. Most of the time, I watch very little TV. I work nights so I try to catch up on the daily grind called "news" that TV spews out for about an hour or so in the morning. That's about it normally, but I'm vacation this week, so I was channel surfing late night and ran across the garbage on MSNBC. Now, I know that MSNBC is anti-gun, anti- conservative, and anti-Republican but I sometimes watch them to try to see their viewpoint. Yes, I was irate at just how much spin MSNBC puts on everything, to the point of outright lying. And yes, like you, my concern is that this garbage IS influencing viewers....influencing them in ways that will HURT our cause. Unless, of course, you don't care whether your firearms and their use will be restricted or banned....then never mind, carry on.

Must be nice to be oblivious to what's going on around you...if you don't watch TV.

I'm sure Pinkie will try to claim the quote as his original but it is from Godfather II.

I think you should follow your own advice and stop watching MSNBC so it doesn't turn you into a bleeding heart liberal vagina.

They should rename it and just call it the anti-gun nanny state channel.

If you're watching it for spying purposes, just make sure you don't watch it for too long or you'll feel dirty and be disgusted with society.

I amend my earlier comment about how all the name calling around here makes us look like 12 year olds.

I clearly gave us too much credit. Let's move that back to 9 year olds.

What's the Internet for if not for anonymous, faceless, name calling of people and things that annoy you? ;)

I would say I'm hardly nameless or faceless, I've met several members of the forum.

FYI, I was ridiculing MSNBC, not the OP.

I've been a regular watcher of MSNBC for years, my comment really isn't even that exaggerated...

MSNBC is most definitely a pusher of the bleeding heart liberal agenda, which is very anti-gun. I might be able to agree with some stuff, but definitely nothing anti-gun, which they talk constantly about now.
