FYI, DHS (Department of Homeland Security) is not so much an agency in and of itself as it is a collection of other agencies within it. OPM, TSA, CIS (formerly INS), and many others, are part of what is considered to be under the DHS umbrella, so saying the statement above which you said, is pretty broad. Realize that just as there are people against us, there are people for us too, and that holds true in EVERY agency, in EVERY part of society. Some cops like civilians to have and carry guns legally, others do not. Just an example, but be careful with sweeping statements since some of those people may be our allies and not our enemies. Some people are "good" and some are "bad", however you wish to define that for yourself.
When I had a federal agent from OPM (Office of Personnel Management) at my house for a federal background check for my last job; after she interviewed with my wife, we had a great discussion about firearms, carrying, etc. (I had my interview with her at work, she had the one with my wife in our home.) She was and is pretty pro-2A, so realize that they aren't all bad, but know they aren't all good either. In the end, they are people just like everyone else.
Do some people go all Himmler and go full-on-ja-vohl-nazi power-tripping and abusing others when they are "the law", work for so and so, etc? Yes, of course, but again, not everyone is like that. It's not fair to make it sound like it is.
My wife's step-mother married a man (now deceased) who I got to know pretty well. He was articulate, spoke and wrote 7 languages fluently, and was in Germany during WWII (He wasn't just just in Europe, but in Germany proper for several years during the war.) Unless one has been there, you can't really understand it. I tried, but any such knowledge I have of living under nazi rule will always be second-hand. I've known other WWII survivors, like my own father, but never before had I met someone who lived in Germany during that time. He had some unique insights which no one else has ever shared with me because they don't have that experience of being in Germany during that time.
From my limited understanding, I can say this, America isn't even close to become such a police state; BUT that's largely because we have WWII, our own nation's history priorr to that, our armaments of individuals, our rights and freedoms, all of which we defend with vigilance; so keep up the good work, but let's not become our own enemy with paranoia. Such a thing can quickly discredit us as much as it does to Alex Jones or Piers Morgan.
We will stop anything from happening long before they are rounding us up, tossing babies into bonfires, and herding us to the box cars to go to the camps.
Be vigilant, but don't be paranoid.
