I did the same thing shooting my 9mm carbine rifle that I've only shot in a 25 yard indoor range. It was gratifying to be able to hit the skinny auto-reset target with that thing.

Wow! what a great match. Fun stages with some shooting challenges that I haven't had the pleasure of shooting before. I found that I hate kneeling and sitting rifle positions. Maybe it has something to do with age and girth. It gives me something to work on that is for sure.

Squad 2 was a great squad to shoot with. All were hard workers and reset went very well. We had a group of new shooters that all handled their weapons safely and they shot well. I think all of us learned something that needs a little work.

Jonah, for your second match you did very well. Smooth weapons handling, good shooting, fast on your feet, I hope you break your leg Ha! Seriously, good job.

We also had a couple of local Law Enforcement shooting with their duty gear and they did extremely well. This was their first time shooting 3-gun and they came out to try it in the hopes that their weapons skills would be tested. I give a lot of credit to the guys and gals that come out on their own dime to shoot these matches in the hopes it will better prepare themselves for the time their skills with weapons might be needed. I am hoping that they found, like I did when I started, that they got to shoot with a group of great people that can teach them a lot about shooting and show them that there are a lot of good people out there that are worth fighting the good fight for. They said that they had fun and would try to bring a few fellow LEO's to the next match.

I just wanted to make a quick note about the success of the MN3GunGroup.

We were told from the start that the idea a group of local shooters had to get this "group" started, would never work. I had to admit that I have never seen anything like it anywhere else. Now to see our little group getting close to 80 shooters coming to the matches several times a year is really an accomplishment. The original idea was started by a small group, but it seems that a lot of the more seasoned competitors have also taken ownership of our group and volunteer to help with setup, stage design, RO duties, tear down, and everyone works very hard at the reset part of the match. I am both impressed and humbled by the people we have in Minnesota that come to these matches. Who would have thought!!

As we all know, no one wins a new truck when they win one of these matches. And yet we wouldn't be shooting in a "competition" if we weren't just a little competative. I will freely admit that I want to win as bad as anyone else. But what really pleases me is the quality of competition that we are seeing at these local matches. I am finding it harder and harder to keep up with any sort of higher placing, and yet I know that my skills have gotten much better in the last year. It is just that everyone else is also getting better. The idea to have stages that offer a shooting challenge that will push the envelope of the shooters is a sound one. The challenges we face at our local matches are as hard as any you will find anywhere in the country at a major match. These matches are preparing all of us to be able to compete at a high level no matter what match we decide to show up for. I like that.

Someone pointed out a few errors on the score's placement order. The scores are all correct, but the order of finish did not sort right. Some people with lower total scores were placed higher than those who actually scored higher. This has been corrected and the updated version has been sent to Jay for posting on the website.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
