Obama using executive fiat again

Say goodbye to those imported Springfield M1's coming back from Korea and elsewhere. Obama just decided to use his executive privilege to ban imporatation of ALL used mil-surp rifles as "some may end up on the streets". Yeah right! When was the last time some thug was arrested with a mil-surp M1 as his weapon? um...NEVER! :angryvillagers:

If I read the order correctly it specifically calls out a prohibition of reimportation of firearms that were provided to other countries (Greek or Korean M1 Garand/Carbines, etc..). I did not see it calling out importation of foreign military surplus firearms or ammo (yet).

I have no issue with his wealth, congrats to him.

He was a just a poor candidate, and represented the Wall Street RINO's, and America didn't want another RINO

I don't understand why he would want to ban the import of M-1's that were made here and should return. It's like banning the import of 747's.

I'm still trying to figure out how he can use executive authority to alter the NFA tax stamp process. Wouldn't that take an act of Congress? And if BATFE were to start requiring the proposed guidelines, wouldn't they in effect be breaking the law? I smell many law suits a'comin'.

You forget that we live in a post-constitutional United States. Legislation is very rarely enacted through the legislative process, rather it's enacted via regulation, and the occasional executive order. This completely bypasses the role of congress, and is blatantly unconstitutional.

Because the people neither elect regulatory bureaucrats or the President (the electoral college does, the national Presidential election is nothing more than a popularity poll), most of the laws that we have to comply with were passed without elected representation.

Our forefathers went to war with the most powerful country in the world over taxation without representation. Yet modern Americans sit back and don't utter so much as a peep when we are forced to suffer legislation without representation. We have allowed every individual protection and every governmental restriction in the constitution to be infringed.

Every single one of us should be ashamed at what we've allowed our country to become.
