I can't believe the arrogance " how can any one buy anything at gunstop" I went in to get a fix for bulged cases that they sold me, the big guy recommended the 70$ redding die and it's useless. I went back and they would not exchange it.

How can this place stay in business? John or no John !!

If you don't buy anything maybe someone will open a real store.

What cartridge?
Which Die?

If 40S&W, use the Redding special resizing push-thru die, or if a small quantity, send to me with return shipping plus 5 cents per case for de-priming, de-bulging, and ss pin washing. If no concerns, I will exchange for brass already completed assuming your brass is once-fired brass and in good condition.

I'm not going to defend the rude pet Hippopotamus that works there in the least, but don't you have some responsibility in this little drama? YOU willingly bought the bulged cases to begin with, and what is your excuse for that? Unless you bought them in a sealed black box, you could clearly see them through the walls of the clear poly bags they use, so you either didn't notice, didn't care, or most likely, don't know that cases fired in early gen Glocks will ALL be bulged because all Glock chambers are dremeled out by my Austrian cousin trolls in caves in high in the mountains. Unless they sold you something other than the Redding GR-x die to get rid of the bulges on 40 S&W brass, that die DOES work in fully ironing out the case bulges, so you must have done something wrong. Pleeze don't tell me you used the normal shellholder for 40 S&W with the GR-x die!!

So what exact die did you buy, and how did you set it up??

I had a MAJOR SURPRISE at Gunstop today.
After big John got an Internet order shipment out, he returned to help me with several Dillon items I needed to improve my operations. As I found each item in the catalog, Blue Press, he got them and placed on counter near me, while also helping several others. We had a discussion with 3 other reloaders about problem solving and which components were best to buy for each application.
It was a very welcome change from past experiences at Gunstop.

Is there a list of powders available/in stock when you go into this store? I hate asking what is available individually.

Nope. But they started posted primers in stock with limits specified which is great. I am sure they carry a lot more types of powders though...
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

"Jumping to conclusions seem to be one of your strong Points"

I am a customer, and a new gun owner. I go to the Gunstop Shop because it's the only one I know of within 30 miles of where I live that sells reloading supplies. I gladly pay the retail price of the products they sell because I expect some expertise and service with my purchases. Neither of which I received from Gunstop this time. I can buy everything I need cheaper and with less hassle on the internet, but I want some guidance and "John Walton in the past has given me great service and guidance". I have no problem with the Redding die it's a great expensive product that I didn't need at all, because I feed the case through the die and they don't touch the side of the die at all. The cases will not fit inside my midway case gauge at all. They do however fit in my "Austrian cousin trolls" barrel just fine. I have no doubt that they will work great in the gun, I know that now, but I didn't know that when I walked into the store.

My point is that with one single question. "what kind of gun do you use " he could have told me that they would fit in my barrel.

I am also sure that many of you could have told me the same thing if you where in the sales person shoes, but no I got an unneeded expensive die at full retail price.

Yodalego, there is Ammocraft 3 miles away from Gunstop, but their selection is not even close. Nicer service though.

Uhhh - so you based your assumption that you had bulged brass on the Midway die, and nothing else?? In debulging 40 brass I get maybe 1 or 2 cases in a couple hundred that go through the Redding GR-x die WITHOUT touching the die. ALL the rest need a little or a lot of debulging. So that bag of fired brass you got was VERY, VERY unusual. Are you absolutely sure that somebody didn't resize it first?? Did the brass come with the primers in or primers out?? If it was primers out, then it's 99% sure it's resized.

Secondly, your assumption that anybody, either one of us or a reloading shop employee, could tell you if the brass you had would fit in any particular gun is completely false. Gun chambers vary from brand to brand, and more importantly, gun-to-gun within a brand, so there is no way ANYONE can tell if a random case will fit in a particular chamber unless you know for sure it's been resized.

The other assumption you could have made was that the Redding GR-x die resizes brass as well as debulging it, and this is also FALSE. The case mouth is a couple mils smaller than the base, so if you debulged it but didn't resize it, then it would probably not fit in the Midway case gauge.

What I saw with your first post was some mistaken assumptions and trying to move forward without really knowing very much about reloading, and your reply only deepens the confusion with what you have said above.

I just hit up gun stop for the first time and can say I will be back, not the owner john was there. I usually don't laugh that much talking to sales people.

Now I just have to see if owner john will hook it up on a case of soft points.
