It's a good 18" plus in diameter, and the top looks like it was sort of gnawed off by beavers. In actuality, this tree was from the battle of Gettysburg, and the sheer volume of massed fire cut it down during the battle. Kind of spooky to realize how FULL the air was of flying 69 caliber Minie balls to do this to a big oak tree, especially considering no one was deliberately trying to hit the tree.
