Officer Warns Ferguson ‘If You Do Not Have a Gun, Get One’

Postby minnesotatv on Thu Nov 20, 2014 4:48 am

“If you do not have a gun, get one and get one soon. We will not be able to protect you
or your family. It will be your responsibility to protect them. Our gutless commanders
and politicians have neutered us. I’m serious, get a gun, get more than one, and
keep one with you at all times.”

I think every home owner should have multiple fire arms in there home. Crap like this could spark anywhere. There are only so many cops and they cannot protect everyone. Especially if you live in the country. Looks like it will be a bloody mess when that verdict comes out.

I read this a bit ago, there are stories on increased gun sales if you look about. I am unsure if they have a waiting period but this is were a waiting period can cost people their lives.

It also worries me some that so many new to guns, now own then with so little knowledge about their use and safety. I do not believe in manditory training, I do think an hour of basic safty training with some hands on doing loading, unloading, etc... might help alot. I am not talking NRA Basic Pistol. I would do what I could for free after all we want all these new gun owners to have a positive experence.

Very worrisome. Many, many people buying guns under the assumption that just having one without knowing how or when to use it will protect them. Guns in the hands of the untrained represent a significant chance of doing more harm than good.

I could be wrong and probably am but I thought the role of the police was to enforce the laws after they were broken not to protect citizens in prevention of a crime. Sure they do a lot in the interest of public safety such as education and awareness but when it comes right down to it I would not assume that they would protect me. I don't mean that as a dig against police as I respect them and what they do very much as long as it doesn't infringe on my constitutional rights. I just mean that those in Ferguson that feel they are in danger must provide for their own safety and if that means getting a firearm, or leaving town, or hiding under a rock, then that is what they should do. On a similar note: this might be a great opportunity for Doomsday Preppers to have a special Ferguson Riots episode!

the short version, the SCOTUS has stated that it's not the police responsibility to protect us.
We reap what we sow. In our case, we have sown our government.

Last I checked the police protect themselves 1st, the mayor/governor/legislature 2nd, then if they have time they run about stripping home and store owners of guns. I believe this has been the case with the flood in new orleans and the rodney king riots.

Is dooms day preppeds any good, Netflix has it but it didn't look that good?

Any evidence to support that statement...?

I think if you look at vermont there is evidence for the opposite.

Why do they always say " To Protect & Serve " on the cars and badges?
not saying I disagree with you, and would not count on my local cops to protect me from anything, sadly.

After the infamous Rodney King incident, Johnny Carson joked that the LAPD was changing its motto from "To Protect & Serve" to "We Treat You like a King".

I do kinda wonder about people who've never shot a gun in their lives facing an emergency a day after they first purchase one.

I wonder what the odds say about a person's chances of survival if they find themselves in a situation where they need a gun and just purchased one with no training vs. those that did not purchase one. :cogitating:

Correctly understanding the legal use of deadly force (for the state you are in) and dealing with officers and the aftermath of a shooting is not something you learn watching "the Expendables" or even "CSI Miami."

I think we all would like these people to act in a responsible way, and that is something you can not force or legistate. In a more perfect world they would have prepared for this years ago, but it is such a rare occurrence I doubt it is on the radar of most people.

Anyway I would think, given experience with past riots, I doubt there will be many if any problems. Also given the warning the city and state has, I would expect the reaction and riot suppression to be fairly effective.
