What is the malls protocol for shooters? Do they drop the store front gates and lock people in the stores? If so and you're not in a store you might be left stranded with the shooters.
That's exactly what I was thinking too. The big parking ramp on the west side is what would scare me. You never know what someone has in their vehicle. But I would imagine that every entrance to the mall has a security camera by it. So anyone carrying a package in, would be on camera. Although, how many people will carry in a Victoria secret bag, or sears bag with what security could consider a "return" that they are carrying into the mall. And actually they have one of those pressure cooker bombs in it.
The mall should have security at every entrance. I don't care how big of a hassle people think it would be, it would be worth it. Just checking packages that are being carried in. There's nothing you can do about the parking ramp. But atleast it would keep something major from happening inside the mall.
It's been a long time since I've been there. But do they have security cameras in the parking ramp? If not, gosh, it would be so easy for one of these worthless cowards to run around on the lower level of the ramp, and set bombs on all of the main supporting pillars of the parking ramp and bring the whole thing down. So hopefully others think about this before they go, and elect to park outside rather than in the ramp.
Although, if the homeland security, or fbi is competent to any degree, they have already thought of things like this, and have everything covered. But, they also supposedly knew about the 9/11 attacks coming, and did absolutely nothing about that before hand. So I really don't have much faith in them.
