Yeah for the most part we are restricted to C&R guns and pre-86, about the only way around this is getting an FFL and then getting an SOT. Full auto's are a blast to shoot(yeah, pun was intended), but you have to have some pretty deep pockets to be able to afford to run one. Last time I was able to shoot a couple of FA's, I started out with two bulk packs of ammo. 250@9mm and 250@45ACP, 15-20 minutes later both my bulk packs were gone. It only lasted that long because of BS'ing about guns and loading mags and drums. The first time I got to shoot a FA S&W M76, it took me about 7 seconds to empty a 32(maybe 31 rounder?) rounder stick mag. They are big-fun.

The guy I know that has several FA's often referes to himself as being "ammo poor".

This why I joined the Army, free ammo.

Back in the 80's I was the armorer for a headquarters company, and I was told to order ammo for our company, and the 4
support companies, turns out they ordered their own ammo. Since range control at Ripley hates live rounds being turned in
we had to burn them up. A picninc table stacked 6 30 rounders high, 4 soldiers, 2 M16's.

Did you know it is possible to become bored with full auto fire?

I've seen it happen.

By the end we were just placeing the ejection port over the empty cans so we wouldn't have to pick up the brass.

Reminded me of the time I started a fire up there on the M-60 range. As the range medic I was bored, so I linked up about
200 tracer rounds that had been removed from the belts (paper target don't like them), and after they were done I fired my
laser into the treeline. The smoke started slow at first, but by the time the second fire truck got there it was rolling pretty good.

That letter from Sarah Brady made me realize I let my NRA membership lapse. Thanks for the reminder, Sarah!

In my business we say you can have anything that you can afford and are willing to do the paperwork for.

C&R Guns are all that you can have with the $200 Tax Samp anything else requires an FFL 07 with an SOT and sometimes for newer weapons you will need a Police Letter to Acquire them as well (Demonstration Letter.)

Full Auto is a giggle - but it is expensive and the thrill wears off quickly....

Anybody own a DIAS or HK sear? Wasn't aware MG's in MN were limited to C&R. How do registered sears work in this state?

Wanted to make sure they were still ok to own before I start shopping for a HK sear. Talked to a guy down in Texas who bought one from a dealer here in Minnesota a while back, but it was from a dealer so it was already on a form 3. Happen to have one for sale by chance?

HK sear is probably not C&R, it needs to be C&R to own in minnesota. pretty lame.

But a sear in and of itself is not a MG. I'll try to give you a call Mark during business hours

Sometimes the sear is the registered part. thus in the mind of the BATFE it is the machine gun. Just like the frame is the gun, not the barrel and bolt that do the actual shooting part in most guns. THey be whacked in the head, but they make the rules and you gotta follow them.

This was confirmed by Mark. It's weird that Minnesota dealers would have sears available to individuals in other states but not to Minnesotans. Thanks all for the clarification.
