Minneapolis Cop loses his gun?

I half heard this on the TV news last night. A Cop pursuing a perp on foot lost his gun. They went back to look for it, but it's gone. Can't find any links. Anyone else?

Still can't find anything about it, but I did find a slightly used, excuses me, a rather worn and unused Glock on Park and 26th last night....................

So does that make it illegal or just undocumented................

It seems that not only does light rail kill more people than PTC, it also causes cops to lose their guns.

MINNEAPOLIS -- A Metro Transit police officer lost his gun while chasing a drug suspect along the Hiawatha light rail transit line. The suspect was caught by police, but the gun remains missing somewhere in south Minneapolis.

Police are asking the public to be on alert for the gun and notify them if it is found.

Well, it doesn't say you have to turn it in, just notify them.

He was a Transit Cop which means he was probably in street clothes, so i doubt he had anything other than level 1.
